2022-05-07 Saturday Freedom/Trucker Support Peaceful Rally and seed exchange?
1pm - 2pm Markham and Lawrence
Tyranny of the week
Garden tyranny from the City of Toronto: https://www.toronto.ca/city-government/public-notices-bylaws/bylaw-enforcement/turfgrass-prohibited-plants. The Turfgrass and Prohibited Plants bylaw is deliberately written to be impossible to comply with. There is no definition of “line of sight” in the bylaw. The bylaw completely prohibits Dog Strangling Vine (DSV) on private property while the City lets DSV run rampant in ravines like Highland Creek. If you can’t identify DSV and you are not mowing every inch of your property, you most likely have DSV along fences, under bushes etc. In theory Toronto can charge you for a single prohibited plant poking up out of the ground. The maximum fine is $100,000 but Toronto typically proceeds administratively and mows your garden down and then bills you for the devatation. Your only recourse it to take Toronto to judicial review after the destruction of your garden.
Upcoming Elections
We have a provincial election coming June 2nd, a federal Conservative leadership race September 10th and Toronto municipal elections October 24th. It’s important to demonstrate and organize locally so we can more effectively lobby our local Scarborough politicians. Please also consider filling out this form to connect by email and the first 3 characters of your postal code. Opa Day is now the official New Blue candidate in Scarborough Guildwood. New Blue has a full slate so check Elections Ontario https://voterservices.elections.on.ca/en/election/candidate-search for candidates in other ridings. If you are interested in nominating a candidate for the Ontario Party in Scarborough Guildwood, contact Donald McMullen at domcm72@gmail.com to arrange to sign nomination papers.
Rally at Markham and Lawrence this Saturday from 1pm -2pm
Please bring a sign, flag, flyers etc. if you have them. By all means bring signs to support political candidates that support medical and other freedoms. If Mitzie Hunter or John McKay want to rally to support freedom, they are welcome too, although Yvonne and I have never seen them during our many protests at their offices… John McKay’s office is still closed as of Thursday May 5th! I don’t know why he bothers having a constituency office.
And how about a plant exchange? If anyone wants a Canada Anemone, email gknittl@sympatico.ca before 1100 Saturday and I will try to bring one for you. If you can’t see us from the corner at Markham and Lawrence, then check the parking lot in front of Healthy Planet.
Other rallies on Saturday:
Downtown Toronto:
https://thelibertyclub.ca/events/2022-05-07/ and
https://thelinecanada.com/protests show no events downtown this Saturday. You can come out to Scarborough for a change!
Durham region:

Not clear if there is a Durham Freedom Rally this May 7th. If there is one it would typically be at 605 Rossland rd east in Whitby, Ontario 12:00 PM.
