Sarah A. Choujounian founder Nurses against lockdowns
Her disciplinary hearing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) continued this week on Wednesday, Thursday and today. The hearing is streamed on Youtube but you have to email the CNO at HearingsAdministrationGroup@cnomail.org for the link. The CNO should just be giving out the link. If enough people email them, then perhaps they will give it out. It’s important to let the CNO know we are watching. While you are at it, please also ask for the Notice of Hearing, Agreed Statement of Facts and Joint Submission on Order (when available) which should also be public, but the CNO makes you ask for them. The CNO allegations are here.
I listened to parts of the hearing this week. This hearing is covering many important aspects of the pandemic response and freedom of expression. For example there was a long discussion on the 15th over Ms. Choujounian’s statement that COVID-19 was harmless compared to Cardio Vascular Disease (CVD). The College acknowledged that more people died from CVD in Ontario in 2019 than COVID-19 in one of the pandemic years (I forget which) and by a large margin. The College was concerned that “harmless” might imply that COVID-19 was absolutely harmless, not comparatively less harmful.
It seems to me excessive and detrimental to free speech for the College to pursue a semantic issue over the word harmless in a formal disciplinary hearing that requires Ms. Choujounian to hire a lawyer. Perhaps Ms. Choujounian could have better formulated that statement but English is a very flexible language and the topics are complex so it can be difficult to be clear to the level that the College would appear to be requiring. Is the College expecting to pre-approve all public communication by nurses? Does the College expect nurses to restrict themselves to regurgitating statements made by the College? What freedom to publicly oppose College dogma does the College think it’s nurses should have?
The hearing continues March 20th and further dates into April. I’m finding myself unable to cover the whole hearing. If you are able to listen and take notes it would be great to coordinate times. This is an important case for Freedom of Expression in Canada.
Rally at Markham and Lawrence this Saturday from 12pm - 1pm
Please bring a sign, flag, flyers etc. if you have them. This is a chance to make connections. People have expressed interest in home schooling and alternate communities. UofT is enforcing vaccine mandates for residences at Scarborough Campus. Councillor Ainslie is back with his dismal approach to public health, although Councillor Ainslie is no longer on the Board of Health.
If you can’t see us from the corner at Markham and Lawrence, then check the parking lot in front of Healthy Planet!
Other rallies on Saturday:
Not clear if there is a downtown Toronto noon rally at Queen’s Park north side this weekend.
According to https://www.facebook.com/people/Durham-Region-Freedom-Fighters/100066877321129/ the Durham Freedom Rally is 1pm to 1:45pm at 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby. As of 2023-03-03 this is no longer an official Durham Region Freedom Fighters event.
Thanks Greg for the good work you are doing. I've asked for the link, but i'm not able to co-ordinate a viewing time as my time is not my own.
