C-11 Online Streaming; Sarah Choujounian
The Senate needs encouragement to stand up to the House of Commons yet again. Robert Kennedy gives an eloquent explanation of how critical freedom of expression is to our other freedoms here at about 31:40. Open Media has a petition here.
Sarah Choujounian’s hearing continued on Monday and Friday this week. Maureen Cava, a lawyer for the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), testified about practice standards. The CNO position reminds me of Neil deGrasse Tyson on the Highwire saying that the scientific “consensus” matters more than the evidence. It’s not clear to me under what conditions the College would allow any nurse to challenge any scientific “consensus”. The hearing resumes May 19th with the College continuing to cross examine the qualifications of the first defense witness, Dr. Steven Pelech.
Rally at Markham and Lawrence this Saturday from ***11:00am - 12 noon***
Please bring a sign, flag, flyers etc. if you have them. There are at least 2 freedom aware candidates in the race for Toronto mayor: Chris Sky and Sarah Climenhaga. Are there any other candidates that we should know about? Our MPP Mitzie Hunter is also running. We’ve protested multiple times in front of her office on Kingston Road, most recently this Thursday, without ever meeting her but glad to talk with her if she shows up…
If you can’t see us from the corner at Markham and Lawrence, then check the parking lot in front of Healthy Planet!
Other rallies on Saturday:
Sarah Choujounian is speaking in Mississaugua this evening.
Presumably there is a noon rally at Queen’s Park north side this weekend.
