MP McKay’s Picnic; Sarah A. Choujounian; Upcoming Events
I estimate under 50 people attended MP McKay’s picnic last Saturday. There was a homeless person living on the park bench near the bus stop in front of the picnic but I didn’t see MP McKay or anyone else from the picnic talk to the person. A token aboriginal person in native garb seemed to be part of the picnic. MP McKay and others posed for pictures with the aboriginal and then left him on his own. For some reason that wasn’t obvious to me no less than three police cruisers arrived and parked in the driveway towards 1pm when I was packing up. Was our MP spooked by the homeless? by the disabled on their electric scooters? by me and my sign advocating for natural immunity? At the picnic last year MP McKay told me he that he voted for the Emergency Measures Act because he thought the Convoy threatened public safety. I wasn’t sure if he was telling the truth, but based on his picnic at St. Margaret’s Parkette it doesn’t take much for him to fear for public safety. It’s time for an MP and a government that is so isolated from Canadians to resign.
I caught the last couple of hours of Sarah A. Choujounian’s hearing today. Her witness, Dr Steven Pelech, had testified in the morning and was being cross examined by counsel for the College of Nurses. The cross-exam centred on exactly what scientific information was available in late 2020 and early 2021 when Ms. Choujounian made the statements the College is prosecuting. It appeared to me that the standard the College is attempting to uphold is that Ms. Choujounian provide contemporary peer reviewed articles to back up word by word every statement she made. I thought Dr. Pelech rightly pointed out that the vaccines were released on an experimental basis with minimal supporting scientific evidence. Personally, I think the burden should be on the College to demonstrate the vaccines had been proven safe at the time Ms. Choujounian criticized the vacccines. As a member of the public, I want medical professionals to be able to make reasonable criticisms of medical interventions before there is peer reviewed proof so as to minimize the body count. The College also went after Dr. Pelech for not opining on the specific words that Ms. Choujounian said. Again, I think this is a bit unfair, because Dr. Pelech is testifying as a medical expert, not an expert in communication. Dr. Pelech pointed out that many of the statements the college is prosecuting are broad and/or vague but there are ways to interpret them to be consistent with the scientific evidence. There was also an interesting legal issue because the College lawyer was cross examining Dr. Pelech on portions of his report where is not accredited as an expert. Ms. Choujounian’s lawyer, Mr Boissonneau-Lehner, indicated he was going to explore this when the hearing resumes next Friday.
