Nurse Sarah A. Choujounian’s ongoing disciplinary hearing 2024-07-22
Ms Choujounian, hereafter Sarah as her lawyer Mr. Boissonneau-Lehner called her, continued her testimony in chief today by finishing with the College standards documents and going over her speech at Yonge and Dundas #1 and social media posts #2 - #7 at issue in Appendix “A” of her notice of hearing. Please refer to the notice of hearing for the description of each post.
Her testimony followed a similar pattern for each item. Her lawyer would play any video associated with each item to give the panel the full context while asking Sarah to clarify and justify elements of the post as they went through it. Sarah explained her thought process and research. She generally searched on the internet and/or relied on other health professionals such as doctors. For #7, she found the fetal cell lines used to produce the AstraZeneca and Johnson and Johnson vaccines on government websites. She did initially post an incorrect fetal cell line for the AstraZeneca vaccine, but was correct in saying a fetal cell line was used to produce that vaccine. She also pointed out that reposting does not imply full agreement and that there is value in promoting public discussion and debate about controversial items - presumably setting the groundwork for a Charter 2b argument.
In my opinion Ms Choujounian’s basic common sense approach turned out to be a lot more correct than the official Public Health response. But College lawyer Megan Shortreed was heads down taking notes throughout most of the hearing. I expect the College will attempt to hold Ms Choujounian to a PHD research level of perfection on cross examination.
The College raised a hearsay objection for #3 PCR testing. I believe the parties agreed that it was hearsay relative to establishing the truth of the content but the narrative was relevant to charges of misinformation. I.e. that hearsay could be relevant. I think the panel allowed the questioning to continue. The College objected to the relevance of questioning Sarah on the details of Dr. Hodkinson’s video in #6 since it was Sarah’s summary of the video, not the video itself that the College charged. Mr. Boissonneau-Lehner ended up just playing the rest of the video for context without further questioning Sarah about it.
Reminder: the next hearing for nurse Sarah Choujounian is Friday August 2nd typically starting at 0930. Presumably testimony will cover the remaining items #8 - #12 in the notice of hearing. The College may start it’s cross examination. Contact HearingsAdministrationGroup@cnomail.org for the YouTube link. If anyone else also takes notes, I’d be interested in sharing the work and/or comparing notes.
Legal Disclaimers: I remain not a lawyer and missed parts of the hearing today so please absolutely don’t rely on this as legal advice. Unfortunately the CNO does not permit recording the hearing so these comments are largely from notes/memory. Presumably there will be an official transcript available at cost if you require legally reliable information.
Rally at Markham and Lawrence this Saturday from 11:00am - 12 noon
Please bring a freedom related sign, flag, flyers etc. if you have them.
I will be at or near Markham and Lawrence, ending up directly outside Healthy Planet in Cedarbrae Mall towards noon.
