Toronto passes protest “bubble zone”; Ostriches still alive
Yesterday Toronto amended Municipal Code Chapter 743, Streets and Sidewalks, Use of to create 50 meter restricted protest “bubble zones” around around places of worship, schools and daycares. The Toronto Council page for the debate shows there were numerous amendments. I cannot find a final amended version of Chapter 743 or even the bylaw with the consolidated amendments to Chapter 743. I did find the final vote at the bottom of the page. I often disagree with our Councillor Paul Ainslie, so I’m happy to report that he voted against the final amendment. He is having a community meeting at The BGC East Scarborough at 100 Galloway Road, Tuesday May 27th from 1900 to 2100 where you can thank him personally.
As best I can tell the ostriches at Universal Ostrich in BC are still alive but the RCMP and Canadian Food Inspection Agency appear to be setting up the kill. This is a federal issue. You can write to our local MP gary.anand@parl.gc.ca and or the federal Minister of Health marjorie.michel@parl.gc.ca
